The National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes discussed the results of work over the past decade

On March 27, the National Organization of Turkmenistan for Barcodes (NOTB) - a member of the international structure "GS1" - celebrated the 10th anniversary of its activities, marking this date with a general meeting of its members.

In a comprehensive review of the organization's activities over the past period, the chairman of NOTB, Aikamar Myalikgulyeva, summarized the main achievements, including the implementation of the work program for 2023-2024, which involves the introduction of automatic identification technologies and GS1 standards in various sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan. The speech also outlined the priority areas for further work and tasks for the upcoming period.

NOTB consists of 2,440 structures, including ministries and industry departments, organizations and enterprises of the public and private sectors. Among NOTB's achievements over the past 10 years are membership in the international organization GS1, the establishment of the National Technical Committee for Standardization, and the opening of a verification laboratory in 2017, which allows for the control of barcode application compliance with international standards. To date, over 76,000 barcodes have been issued, and domestic goods have been assigned the corresponding labeling. NOTB has fully covered the system of automatic identification of Turkmen product manufacturers, which contributes to the promotion of their products in international markets.

Over the past decade, successful work has been carried out to harmonize national standards with international documents and actively implement international and intergovernmental standards in practice. The development of the information database on Turkmen product manufacturers is facilitated by the NOTB website "Made in Turkmenistan."

NOTB plans to continue its work in supporting the effective implementation of various types of automatic identification in different fields. Currently, a platform is being developed to protect the rights of product manufacturers.

Speaking at the meeting, the members of NOTB emphasized the importance of the organization's activities in the context of the set tasks for the development of public-private partnerships, the implementation of the Concept of the Digital Economy, the creation of new high-tech industries, and the promotion of products by Turkmen manufacturers in foreign markets.
