A regular meeting of joint groups on the results of the Cooperation Framework between the UN and Turkmenistan in the field of sustainable development for 2021–2025 was held at the UN building. At the meeting, joint activities for implementation in 2024 related to the five directions and final results of the CPF were discussed.

These include: People-centred governance and the rule of law; Sustainable economic diversification, competitive private and financial sectors, expanded trade and trade promotion; Disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and resilience building; High-quality and affordable health and social care services; Quality, inclusive and accessible education and systems for skills development.

The meeting participants, representing the ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the UN Country Team, agreed on the actions of all stakeholders for the effective implementation of the CPF. This is the purpose of the prepared draft Joint Work Plans of the Groups based on the results for 2024, which includes specific activities and tasks aimed at achieving the goals of the CPF. As a result of the discussions, the parties preliminary approved the draft Joint Work Plans, which will be submitted for consideration and approval to the RPS Steering Committee in April. Once approved, the plans will provide guidance for all parties involved in the implementation of the CPF.

As part of the meeting of the Joint Working Groups based on the results of the RPS, the RPS Financing Plans for 2023 (report) and 2024 (planning) were considered. The implementation of the CPF Financing Plan for 2024 will ensure sustainable financing of the CPF and timely implementation of planned UN activities, programs and projects, as well as increase the efficiency of using available resources to achieve the goals of the CPF to implement the priorities of sustainable development of Turkmenistan on time.

The meeting also touched upon the development of a new Framework for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for the period 2026–2030. During the discussions, priorities and areas of cooperation for the new program cycle were identified, taking into account the national priorities of Turkmenistan and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event once again demonstrated the commitment of the UN and the Government of Turkmenistan to cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
