A training session on greenhouse gas inventory was organized in Ashgabat as part of the joint project of the UNDP and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza".

The main objective of the event was to enhance the knowledge of experts from key ministries and agencies involved in data collection, development of national indicative parameters and compilation of national greenhouse gas emissions indicators.

Participants discussed issues related to improving the national registry of greenhouse gas emissions for land use, changes in land use and forestry management, and were introduced to innovative methods of conducting greenhouse gas inventory.

The training will contribute to the fulfillment of Turkmenistan's commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
