The maritime merchant fleet of Turkmenistan significantly exceeded the cargo transportation plan for the first quarter of this year.

      The total volume of cargo transportation in January-March 2024 by merchant marine vessels increased by 14.1% compared to the corresponding period in 2023 and amounted to 586.5 thousand tons. In general, the fleet plan for cargo transportation for January-March 2024 was fulfilled by 133.3%.

In the first quarter, impressive growth rates were achieved in both cargo turnover and passenger turnover of maritime transport. Freight turnover for January-March 2024 amounted to 236.096 million tons km, which is 4.2% higher than the same period in 2023, and the freight turnover plan for this period was fulfilled by 188.0%.

As for passenger turnover in the first quarter of 2024, it increased by 44.5% compared to the corresponding period last year and amounted to 1.910 million passenger km. At the same time, the implementation of the plan amounted to 355.0%.

The number of containers transported amounted to 1879 TEU, a growth rate of -184.4%.
