Turkmen-Italian cooperation presented in Ashgabat

An event called «Made in Italy Day», held on the 15th of April by the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Turkmenistan, was dedicated to the international uniqueness of Italy in such areas as fashion, furniture, food, engineering and design.

Its participants were representatives of the Italian oil and gas company «ENI» operating in the Turkmen market, entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and students studying the Italian language.

The meeting began with the demonstration of videos about Italy's leadership in various areas of European and global production, about Italian products distinguished by high quality and elegance, about the popularity and recognition of the national brand «Made in Italy». The theme of the country’s economic and export potential was continued in his speech by the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Turkmenistan Luigi Ferrari, who noted the positive dynamics of the development of trade, economic, cultural and business ties with Turkmenistan and expressed hope for their intensification after the recent opening of direct flights between the two countries. In this regard, the readiness to assist Turkmen business in establishing business ties with Italian companies was confirmed both by the embassy staff and the representative of the Italian Trade Agency in Turkmenistan who was present at the meeting.

Speaking about the beauty of Italian jewellery, Mr. Ferrari reminded that the Turkmen classical poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fragi, whose 300th anniversary is widely celebrated this year, was also a skilled jeweller. At the same time, it was noticed that beauty, embodied both in the artistic word and in unique pieces of jewellery, is a force capable of saving the world, even in modern turbulent conditions.

Then the floor was given to Turkmen entrepreneurs who already have successful experience of cooperation with various Italian companies and represent such popular brands of clothing, shoes and accessories on the Turkmen consumer market as Paul & Shark, Stefano Ricci, Benetton, the Musetti coffee brand, Italian home improvement products houses and public buildings. A representative of the domestic company «Hermitage» spoke about completed projects for the arrangement of various premises with the supply of all interior items directly from Italian manufacturers, noting the demand for «smart home» equipment in Turkmenistan as a promising area.

The lively exchange of plans and opinions of the event participants continued in an informal atmosphere during the buffet that concluded the meeting.
