First Meeting of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council

Today, the first meeting of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council was held in a hybrid format at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In accordance with the program, the meeting of the Council was held in two sessions. During the first session, there were discussed issues of upcoming steps to prepare the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between Turkmenistan and the UN (UNDAF) for the period 2026–2030.

At the second session, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for developing cooperation in the field of sustainable development, including joint projects. In order to create conditions for systematic work, it was also considered the issue of developing an interaction mechanism within the Strategic Advisory Council.

The meeting approved a Roadmap for the development of a new Turkmenistan – UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Program for 2026–2030 and eight projects in the areas of youth policy, digitalization, demography, green energy, and climate change, etc.

At the end of the meeting, it was held a ceremony to sign documents in such important areas as environmental protection, healthcare, agriculture and others, namely: Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Human Settlements Program; Draft document between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “Capacity building for climate resilient water resources management”; Draft document between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “Development of digital solutions for sustainable pasture management”; Draft document between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “Development of the aqua-feed value chain and management effectiveness for protecting the health of aquatic animals”; Agreement on the procurement of medical products for the control of infectious diseases in 2024–2025 for the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program; Draft document between the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program “Increasing the capacity of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan.”
