On May 23 – 24, 2017, the State Concern “Turkmengas” together with Summit Trade Events Ltd. (UK) hold VIII International Gas Congress TGC 2017 in Avaza National tourist zone. Annual forum attracts increased attention of foreign top managers of fuel and energy sphere.
The main objective of the congress is to discuss topical issues of realization of the potential of gas industry of Turkmenistan. Aspects of energy security and diversification of export and transit of Turkmen energy resources, construction of international gas pipelines, investment policy, international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan in environmental protection sphere and analysis of the development of the world’s gas market will be reviewed during TGC 2017.
It is generally known that Turkmenistan has huge hydrocarbon resources. While being the largest Central Asian Supplier of gas, the country possesses all capabilities for increment of production volumes in the nearest future. According to independent international experts, total reserves of only two deposits “Galkynysh” and “Yashlar” are 26.2 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
Additional sources of gas received recently form gas bearing fields of Galkynysh deposit – Jurjy, Bagly and Southern Yoloten 26, proved again correct calculations of the specialists of the State Concern “Turkmengeologiya” on huge reserves of gas there.
High potential of the coastal zone and shallow Caspian waters and presence of largest oil and gas reserves in the deposits of this region are also confirmed. Drilling of the well with project depth of 7150 meters was accomplished at Uzynda area of the Caspian Coast. Industrial flow of gas was received at the depth of 6689 – 6695 meters during the well-test. According to initial survey, the capacity of the well is 500 000 cubic meters of natural gas and 180 tons of gas condensate per day.
At present moment, the State Concern “Turkmengas” develops around 30 gas and gas condensate deposits including Devletabat and Shatlyk, malay, kerpichly, 10 years of Independence, Gazlydepe, Bagaja, Yolguyi and other. Number of operational well is around 1000 units.
The Concern provides entire internal requirements in natural gas and fulfilment of contractual obligations on its supply to foreign consumers. However, the specialists of the State Concerns “Turkmengeologiya” and “Turkmengas” increase the resource base of natural fuel. Industrial flow of sulphur-free gas was received from Halkabat deposit. The production at Malay deposit in Eastern Turkmenistan is growing owing to the development of lower under salt carbonate layers. Creation of additional powers for production, preparation and transport of gas from Bagaja, Zealky-Derveze and others is continued. New deposits Agarguyly and Northern Gazlydepe in Lebap Velayat, Southern Gutliyak, geyazly in Ahal Velayat, Garakel in Mary Velayat were opened. Besides, the growth of industrial reserves is achieved at Chertak, Garajovlak and other fields.
Turkmen geologists continue exploration survey works at Galkynysh and adjoining deposits. Relative infrastructure of production and processing powers for 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year was established there.
The strategy of the development of domestic fuel and energy complex is aimed at diversification of export potential of the resources. Colossal deposits of gas at Galkynysh deposit are the key factors in this context. After completion of the third phase of the development of the field, the production of gas will be 93 billion cubic meters per year.
Turkmenistan continues steadfast realization of energy policy aimed at large-scale development of domestic fuel and energy complex and its dynamic integration to international energy system. Based on the Programme of the development of oil and gas complex of the country, several large projects are implemented in Turkmenistan.
Particularly, East – West gas system with total length f 773 km and throughput capacity of 30 billion cu m of gas per year was put into operation. Regional pipeline, built by domestic constructors, became an important part of single gas system necessary for provision of industrial development of the regions. The line will allow putting into operation dozens of new industrial facilities, providing the development of leading branches, first of all, electrical energy, satisfying the demands of the velayats in gas and generally, providing their further steadfast development.
The construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas main (TAPI) is continued. Diversification of export of natural gas is one of the main objectives of interstate gas transport system built by Turkmenistan. The specialists of the State Concern “Turkemngas” have already accomplished project survey and exploration works of 214 lm section of Turkmen part of the main and prepared project documentation. Design and estimate documents are accomplished for all types of work for installation of instruments and telemechanics on line part of gas pipe, for electrical supply and electrical and chemical protection of the pipeline. The project engineers selected the places for construction of future infrastructural facilities.
The contract for provision of services for initial project design and project management on the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan was signed between «TAPI Pipeline Company Limited» and «ILF Beratende Ingenieure GmbH» (Germany) in Ashgabat in January of this year.
Currently, the State concept on foundation of large industrial enterprises for processing of natural reserves is successfully implemented. Thus, the construction of large gas chemical complex in Kiyanly, performed by the consortium of компаний «Hyndai Engineering Co., Ltd», «LG International Corp.» and «Toyo Engineering Corporation», with annual output of five billion cu m of gas stipulates the production of 386 000 tons of polyethylene and 81 000 tons of polypropylene per year.
The plant for production of high-quality petroleum form natural gas under construction in Ovadan- Depe is another important facility that has no analogues in the world. The contractors of this project are Kawasaki Heavy Industries LTD» and «Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri Insat Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S.». Equipped with modern technologies, this plant would process 1 785 000 cubic meters of natural gas per year and produce 600 000 tons of high-quality Euro 5 petrol. The opening of these facilities is planned on 2018.
During joint session of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that Gas Congress is to become the ground for discussion of topical issues of cooperation in fuel and energy complex, to promote expansion of beneficial dialog and share of experience in this strategic sphere and defining of further directions of cooperation with foreign partners.
