A roundtable discussion was held at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, organised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan jointly with the UNDP/GCF project «Development of the National Adaptation Planning Process in Turkmenistan».
The event brought together stakeholders, including representatives of line ministries, government agencies and eminent academics from leading educational institutions across Turkmenistan to facilitate dialogue and enhance cooperation on climate change issues.
The event presented a database of priority technologies available for the future implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) in the country.
Participants were introduced to the specifics of climate change adaptation planning in priority sectors of the economy and the role of innovative technologies in addressing key issues. The participants were also introduced to integrated approaches to identifying and defining technologies that best meet the adaptation needs of Turkmenistan. The event also provided an opportunity to exchange views on practical solutions and strategies for integrating advanced tools into national adaptation projects.
This initiative reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to addressing climate change through institutional capacity building and advanced decision-making. The developed database is expected to become a cornerstone for decision makers and stakeholders, providing a reliable basis for implementing climate change adaptation strategies in various sectors.
