Care of crops continues on the cotton field of the country with total area of 550 thousand hectares. Useful insects – lacewing, trichogramma and habrobracon help the cotton-growers in this activity. During whole vegetation period, these insects are let out to the fields for pest control. Efficiency and safety of such biological method has been tested by practice of many years.
This year, in order to provide “a landing” of biodefenders of crops, nearly four hundred of biofactories and bio-laboratories that breed useful insects, are functioning for fields in necessary amount. The greatest quantity of bio-enterprises – 141 ones are located in the Lebap province – one of the largest regions of raw cotton production in the country. 124 enterprises are functioning in the Dashoguz province, 58 – in Mary, 52 – in Akhal and 4- in the Balkan province.
Alongside with vegetation watering, inter-row cultivation, additional fertilizing of crops – complex care of fields, these measures lay good foundations for future harvest. The harvesting campaign of the valuable agricultural crop will start in the last month of the summer. Traditionally, the harvesting campaign is first started in the southern regions of the country – Lebap and Mary provinces. This year, Turkmen cotton-growers plan to yield 1 million 109 thousand tons of raw cotton.
