The increase in the throughput capacity of the "Farap awtoyollary" (Turkmenistan) – "Alat" (Uzbekistan) checkpoints became the main topic of an online meeting between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and representatives of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The parties noted an increase in the number of vehicles crossing between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan following the recent reconstruction of the "Farap awtoyollary" checkpoint. They also discussed prospective tasks for further increasing the capacity of these posts.
It was decided to appoint responsible persons from both sides to promptly resolve issues arising in the operational area of the "Farap awtoyollary – Alat" checkpoints. The parties also agreed to hold joint meetings between representatives of the two customs services and to familiarize participants in Uzbekistan's foreign economic activities with the mechanisms of Preliminary Declaration, which was launched in Turkmenistan on June 1, 2024.
