The Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and Kent State University (USA) jointly held an online conference on the topic “Designing for Density: A Conversation on Accessory Dwelling Units.”
The meeting was attended by researchers, faculty members, and students from the architectural and construction faculty of the Turkmen university, as well as specialists from the U.S. university.
During the conference, Patrick Hewitt and Rachel Novak, employees of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, along with Eric Zamft, Director of Planning and Development at City of Cleveland Heights, and Tommy Chesnes, Senior Architect at Onyx Creative, shared their expertise in architecture, construction and design with participants.
As part of the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the efficient use of land in urban planning, proper housing design, the impact of population on urban planning, as well as solving social, economic and environmental challenges in this field. The presentation of these issues and their solutions in various speaker presentations generated great interest among participants.
It was noted that various competitions are being held to promote urban development, with information about their winners and successfully implemented projects actively published in the media. This provides an excellent opportunity for the public to contribute suggestions and conduct economic analysis of projects submitted for competitions, significantly influencing the effectiveness of youth projects.
Participants expressed confidence that this bilateral meeting would contribute to gaining professional experience and implementing projects that meet the needs of the population while advancing economically and environmentally sustainable ideas.
The conference was held as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and Kent State University (USA).
