The women’s national futsal team of Turkmenistan concluded its first match with a 1:1 draw against the team from Kyrgyzstan at the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Women’s Futsal Championship, which kicked off in Dushanbe.

The tournament has brought together five women’s teams from Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The champion will be determined through a round-robin format.

The CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship is being held for the fourth time. Representatives of Turkmenistan are participating for the second time. Last year, at the tournament in Dushanbe, our compatriots achieved only one victory against the team from Tajikistan (4:1) and finished in fourth place.

A year ago, the women’s teams of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan also opened the CAFA Championship. Back then, the match ended with a comeback victory for the Kyrgyz futsal players, 3:1. This time, the scenario unfolded differently.

The opponents from Kyrgyzstan opened the scoring as early as the 2nd minute, thanks to Kenzhebubu Yrysbek Kyzy, who completed a run from her half of the field with a precise toe-poke shot down the center of the goal to make it 1:0. Turkmenistan’s futsal players equalized in the second half, with Lyale Haipova scoring the goal.

In another match on the first day of play, Iran defeated Uzbekistan with a resounding 9:0 victory. Turkmenistan will face Uzbekistan in their next game.

The tournament will conclude on February 16.

The CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship has been held since 2022. In 2022 and 2024, the tournament took place in Dushanbe, while in 2023 it was held in Tashkent. In all previous CAFA Championships, Iran’s women’s futsal team has emerged as champions.
