In Turkmenistan, the construction of automobile and railway roads continues at a rapid pace, and new, more efficient air and sea routes are being put into operation. The Mary-Turkmenabat section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway, which is currently being constructed at an accelerated rate, can be cited as an example.

As is known, the grand opening of the Ashgabat-Tejen section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway took place on October 29, 2021, and on April 17, 2024 – the Ashgabat-Mary section. Currently, the construction and commissioning of the third phase of the highway – the Mary-Turkmenabat section – is being completed. According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated January 11, 2019, the construction of this high-speed highway, with a total length of 600 kilometers, is carried out by the closed joint-stock company "Turkmenavtoban," which includes economic entities - members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, and other contracting organizations.

The commissioning of the highway will contribute to improving the quality of logistics services, expanding international transit and transport infrastructure, increasing foreign trade turnover, significantly increasing the volume of cargo passing through the country's territory, and creating wide opportunities for accelerated transportation. At the same time, more favorable conditions are being created for the development of relations in the transport sector with neighboring Uzbekistan.

A number of technical centers will be created along the Mary-Turkmenabat highway, equipped with video surveillance systems and other specialized equipment in accordance with international standards. Ten auto service centers are planned to be established for technical maintenance on the Mary-Turkmenabat section of the high-speed highway.

Builders from economic societies - "Altyn Nesil," "Ata melhem," and "Edermen" - are actively participating in the construction of this modern road. More than 2,600 units of modern equipment are involved in the road construction. The first layer of asphalt on the high-speed road is 10 centimeters thick, the second is 7 centimeters, and the third is 5 centimeters. Also, before asphalting, a certain thickness of soil and four layers of geotextile are laid, along with several types of special coatings in accordance with international standards. The highway will have three lanes of traffic in one direction and one reserve lane, totaling eight lanes in both directions, with a total width of 34.5 meters.
