From year to year, the macroeconomic indicators of the national economy demonstrate stable growth, which is irrefutable evidence of the consistency and foresight of the strategy chosen by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to improve the standard and quality of life of the population.
Thus, by the end of 2024, GDP grew by 6.3 percent. In the industrial complex, this indicator increased by 1.5 percent, in construction - by 11 percent, in the transport and communications sector - by 7.2 percent, in trade - by 10.1 percent, in agriculture - by 5.3 percent, in the service sector - by 8.6 percent.
Compared to 2023, in 2024 overall production output increased by 12.1 percent. Positive production indicators were achieved in economic sectors.
Compared to 2023, the volume of retail trade last year increased by 13.1 percent.
The size of wages in large and medium-sized enterprises of the country increased by 10.6 percent compared to 2023. During the specified period, wages, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships were financed on time and in full.
In 2024, the plan for capital investment development from all sources of financing was fully implemented. Compared to 2023, this figure increased by 9.1 percent.
Comprehensive measures aimed at strengthening the economic power of Turkmenistan and ensuring stable development of the national economy, including the banking system, are being successfully implemented.
Compared to 2023, the total volume of loans issued by banks to the private sector, individuals, small and medium-sized businesses increased in 2024. Along with this, the indicators of loans to agricultural producers increased, which amounted to 30.7 percent.
As of 1st of January, 2025, the volume of mortgage loans to citizens for the purchase of real estate in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, as well as in the velayats, increased by 16.2 percent.
Good performance in the past year was noted in the non-governmental sector of the economy.
Addressing the participants of the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of 2024, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that a total of 5,735 new jobs were created during the reporting period. The volume of exports of products manufactured in the country reached 12 billion US dollars.
The importance of continuing effective activities to strengthen the foundations of the national economy, creating new industries through the introduction of innovative technologies in all areas, and increasing the share of the private sector in the economy was also noted.
Last year, 86 production and socio-cultural facilities were opened using all sources of funding, 1 million 145 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned. Thousands of families celebrated housewarming parties. The construction of the second stage of the «smart» city Arkadag continues.
As can be seen from the above-mentioned results of work for the past year, the country's economy is developing at a high rate. All state programs aimed at a steady increase in the standard of living of the population are being implemented within the planned timeframes and with high quality.
