Last week, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which the results of the work of economic sectors for 2024 were summed up and promising tasks for the socio-economic development of our state for 2025 were identified.
One of the key items on the agenda was the Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments in 2025, developed jointly with ministries, industry departments, hakimliks of the velayats, and the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag.
The draft of this document, compiled on the basis of the seven-year Presidential Program and the State Budget for the current year, outlines the expected macroeconomic indicators for the current year, production plans for all sectors, work to be carried out, indicators of socio-economic development and investment volumes for the velayats, the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag. Along with this, measures are envisaged related to the implementation of an active investment policy, a consistent increase in the population's income and further improvement of the social and living conditions of Turkmen citizens.
During the meeting, the head of state signed the Resolution «On approval of the Program for the socio-economic development of the country and investments in 2025».
Addressing those present, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that in accordance with this Program, this year it is planned to maintain the GDP growth rate at 6.3 percent, support the stable development of the country's economic sectors and regions, achieve the full utilisation of production enterprises, create over 3,000 jobs through the construction of new enterprises, and increase the volume of foreign trade turnover to 20 billion US dollars.
It is also planned to develop small and medium-sized businesses, to increase the share of the private sector in the GDP structure to 71.6 percent. By increasing wages, pensions, state benefits and student stipends by 10 percent, the population's income will increase, and the social and living standards of Turkmen citizens will improve.
As we mentioned in previous publications, in 2024, 86 large industrial and social facilities were commissioned across the country. These include a complex of new buildings of the Berdimuhamed Annayev Specialized Military School of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, a complex of buildings of the Ashgabat City Hall, the «Magtymguly Pyragy» Cultural and Park Complex, the International Health and Rehabilitation Centre and the International Scientific and Clinical Centre of Physiology, the 2nd stage of the Baherden and Lebap Cement Plants, the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway, the Balkan-Dashoguz power transmission line and the Dashoguz power plant, the Bagtyýarlyk water treatment facility, 13 9-storey buildings in the Parahat-7 residential complex in Ashgabat, 70 4-storey residential buildings and complexes of facilities in the city of Dashoguz, as well as 5 secondary schools and 2 kindergartens.
And already this year, investments in the amount of 40 billion manats will be directed into the country's economy from all sources of financing.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that, in accordance with the «Program of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments in 2025», this year it is planned to build and commission residential buildings with an area of about 500 thousand square meters, general education institutions for 4,620 children, and preschool institutions for 2,000 children.
In order to improve the social and living standards of the people, within the framework of the implementation of this Program, the construction of a number of new buildings will be launched in the velayats and the capital. It is also planned to complete the construction of some objects and buildings.
This year, it is planned to commission modern villages in the Öňaldy gengeshliks of the Ak Bugday and Gowşut districts of the Kaka district of the Ahal region, new modern villages in the Kizylarvat district of the Balkan region, a new modern settlement in the Kunyaurgench district of the Dashoguz region, a road bridge across the Garabogazköl Bay in the Balkan region, and an international airport complex in the Jebel village of the Balkan region. It is also planned to commission the Mary-Turkmenabat section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway, and a higher educational institution of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
In order to improve the social and living conditions of the population, significant funds will be allocated for the construction of roads, communication systems, water, gas, and energy supplies, and the construction of treatment facilities.
As can be seen from the above, under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, large-scale transformations are being carried out in this direction, designed to ensure accelerated dynamics of development of the entire national economic complex of our Fatherland in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state.
