Increasing the transit potential of the transport and communications sector is one of the important conditions for the sustainable socio-economic development of our sovereign state. In this regard, the large-scale work initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag and successfully continued under the wise leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar deserves special attention.

At the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on February 7 this year, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the facilities that will be put into operation during the International Year of Peace and Trust. Among them, one of the most important facilities is the International Airport in the village of Jebel of the city of Balkanabat.

Modernization of the material and technical base of the country's civil aviation, improvement of the quality of service when transporting passengers and cargo by this type of transport, and ultimately ensuring the active integration of our country into the global transport and communications system are among the priorities of the reforms being implemented in this area.

The international airport, the construction of which began in July 2021 with the blessing of Hero-Arkadag, occupies a total area of more than 275 hectares. And the airport, with a capacity of 100 passengers per hour, is fully equipped with advanced technologies and the most modern aviation systems from world-famous manufacturers.

The airport will have facilities to accommodate various types of aircraft, including four helipads and six fixed-wing landing pads. It is especially important that high quality services be of paramount importance. This will enable the Jebel International Airport to handle local and foreign aircraft in accordance with international quality standards in the field of passenger and cargo transportation.

The airport, which is being built by order of the "Türkmenhowaýollary" agency, has a 3,200-meter runway. There are also passenger and cargo terminals, a 20-bed pilots' hotel, a 35-meter air traffic control tower, a rescue and fire service building, a specialized aircraft servicing vehicle depot, a transformer substation, water storage tanks, external water supply systems and auxiliary buildings.

Hundreds of different powerful machines are operating at full capacity during the construction of the airport, which is being built by the private enterprise “Gündogdy”, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

Preparatory work for the commissioning of the facility is currently underway at an active pace.
