In the training center at the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, started to work a seminar on the use of a harmonized system (HS) of the description and coding of goods.
The ceminar was organized jointly with the World Customs Organization with sponsorship support of the China Customs Cooperation Fund. The event is coordinated by an accredited expert on the use of a harmonized system for describing and coding of goods from Brazil Yar Novis and Spaniard Alvaro Fernandez.
The goal of the seminar is to provide technical assistance in bringing a commodity nomenclature in accordance with the Convention on the Harmonized System for the Description and Coding of Products, which entered into force for Turkmenistan from January 1, 2025. He will also provide a platform for discussing the tools and means of the World Customs Organization for HS to modernize the classification of tariffs and ensure uniformity in the interpretation and application of the 2022 HS nomenclature.
The Customs Service staff got acquainted with the correct application of the General Rules for the Interpretation of Goods, the relevant notes and the scope of specific sections of the Harmonized System. They also presented case studies of tariff classification in various fields.
The Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding system is a unified international product classifier. Its application makes it possible to collect reliable and accurate statistics of the entire world trade, unified and understandable for all countries.
