Master of the national Japanese dance Ueda Chiho and musician Kikuchi Yutaka, who arrived in Ashgabat as part of a cultural exchange, held a series of master classes in specialized secondary and higher educational institutions of the capital.

During the week, guests from the country of a Rising Sun visited the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kuliyeva and the Special Music School named after D. Ovezov, where they introduced young specialists to the intricacies of Kabuki theater, performing national dances, folk singing and playing the traditional musical instrument of Japan – samisen.

A rich exchange of professional experience took place during an open lesson at the Turkmen State Institute of Culture. Warmly welcoming the guests with traditional Turkmen food – pishme, the representatives of the university conducted Japanese guests to the dance hall, where they were greeted by a creative surprise from the participants of the folklore and dance group "Miras".

The student ensemble performed the ancient Turkmen dance "Kushtdepdi", included in the UNESCO representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of mankind. Impressed by the energy and enthusiasm with which the boys and girls danced, the guests began to learn the movements of the Turkmen folk dance, which is a vivid example of national art.

Then Ueda Chiho, accompanied by samisen, performed a mysterious cherry blossom dance. The members of the choreographic group mastered some elements of the dance, perfecting their skills under the strict guidance of the Japanese master.
The creative meeting continued in the museum of the Institute, where the rich historical and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan was presented. The guests got acquainted with the art of Turkmen embroidery with special interest, which goes back to ancient times and is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, which confirms its worldwide recognition.
