The remaining ten sets of tournament medals were contested today in the Alysh belt wrestling competition.

Alysh is a national wrestling of the Kyrgyz people with a fixed grip on the belt. Its history goes back to the distant past. The name «Alysh» comes from the epic «Manas». In ancient times, when warriors wanted to compete, they would say «kel, alyşaly» («let's go, measure our strength»), which meant «geliň, göreşeliň» («let's wrestle»). Both men and women take part in this type of wrestling. The wrestling takes place only in a standing position. The task of each wrestler is to try to knock the opponent down on his shoulder blades without letting go of his belt.

In recent years, belt wrestling Alysh, like Turkmen Goresh, has been actively developing throughout the world and today the World Alysh Federation (WAF), founded in 2002 and headquartered in Bishkek, includes 36 national federations from Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America.

At the international tournament in Ashgabat, winners in belt wrestling Alysh were determined in six weight categories for men and four for women. And in this type of program, Turkmen athletes were first in the team standings, winning 14 medals, of which 4 were gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.

The highest awards were won by Sylapberdi Nuryyev (up to 80 kg), Annagurban Allaberdiyev (up to 90 kg), Palvan Gurbangeldiyev (up to 100 kg) and Davut Nazarov (over 100 kg).  Silver medals were awarded to Abdyresul Durdyyev (up to 60 kg), Kervengeldi Jumagylyjov (up to 80 kg), Nobatgeldi Nazarov (up to 100 kg), Zohre Gurbanmyradova (up to 60 kg) and Aynura Fayzullayeva (up to 65 kg), and bronze medals to Umyt Garagulov (up to 60 kg), Azymuhammet  Orazmuhammedov (up to 70 kg), Kuvvat Hojamberdiyev (up to 90 kg), Hesel Orazgeldiyeva (up to 55 kg) and Patma Garajayeva (up to 70 kg).

The second place in the team standings in alysh wrestling with 4 gold and 5 bronze medals was taken by athletes from Uzbekistan, and the third place was taken by the palvans of Kyrgyzstan, who have 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Among the winners there are also representatives of Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, India and Belarus.

At the end of the final competitions, an award ceremony was held, during which the winners and prize-winners of the tournament were awarded medals, certificates, including the book by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov «Youth is the support of the Motherland». In honour of the victories of our wrestlers, the National Anthem of Turkmenistan was played, to the majestic sounds of which the sacred Banner of the Motherland was raised over the stands of the sports complex.

Thus, following the results of two types of the tournament program, our compatriots won a total of 28 medals, including 12 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze. The current achievements of Turkmen wrestlers are the result of the great attention paid to the development of sports in our country. By initiating a number of large-scale sports projects of both national and international significance, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag made sports a national idea, thanks to which our Fatherland is increasingly becoming a venue for major competitions.

The tournament in Ashgabat became an important platform for demonstrating the skills of goresh and alysh wrestlers from different countries, promoting the popularisation of these national sports and strengthening international sports cooperation. It also increased the pride of all Turkmen citizens for their country, which once again confirmed that under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, it is capable of hosting and successfully holding representative competitions of various levels.

The participants of the award ceremony of the winners of the International Tournament in National Wrestling Goresh and Belt Wrestling Alysh adopted an Appeal to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which they expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunities created and support for holding this sporting event at a high organisational level.
