For nine decades, the State Children's Library of Turkmenistan named after Bazar Amanov remains a real light of knowledge and culture for young residents of the country. These days, the library proudly celebrates its 90th anniversary, confirming the status of a national treasury of children's literature and a favorite place for many generations of schoolchildren and preschool children.
In honor of the significant date, the library hosted a conference entitled “Çagalara hyzmat edýän kitaphanalaryň işini kämilleşdirmek” (“Improving the Activities of Libraries Serving Children”). The event brought together leading specialists from the capital and regional children's libraries of the Mary, Balkan, Dashoguz and Lebap velayats, as well as famous writers, poets and artists of Turkmenistan.
Participants exchanged valuable experiences, discussed current projects and plans for the future. Particular attention was paid to finding new ways to attract the younger generation to reading and libraries, as well as to comprehensively satisfy their educational and cultural requests.
The festive atmosphere was continued by a musical and creative meeting, where young talents and honored guests of the library presented the audience with haunting songs, poems and warm congratulatory speeches. At the end of the solemn event, the librarians were presented with memorable gifts from the primary trade union organization and the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan in recognition of their important work.
The State Children's Library named after Bazar Amanov has a truly priceless collection of children's literature, numbering more than 270 thousand units. This diversity includes not only books, but also magazines, newspapers, audio recordings and publications in Turkmen, Russian and other languages. The annual replenishment of the fund is about 3,000 valuable exhibits. Among the special treasures of the library books by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero Arkadag are carefully stored.
Keeping up with the times, the library actively uses modern technologies. Since 2016, a unified electronic library system has been successfully operating, and the library's own official website opens the doors to the world of information and knowledge for young readers and their parents.
For maximum convenience of service, the electronic library system BEKU-Bitevi has been implemented, including electronic catalogs and cards that help readers navigate the rich collections and quickly find the literature they are interested in. The catalog system is presented in two formats: alphabetical and subject.
The 90th anniversary of the State Children's Library named after Bazar Amanov is not just a round date, but a testimony of its enduring value and an important role in the education of the younger generation of Turkmenistan.
