As part of the International Year of Peace and Trust, an exhibition of paintings by Polish artist Joanna Galecka has been launched at the Exhibition Center of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. This is not the first time she has visited our country, and each of her trips ends with an exhibition of paintings about Turkmenistan. This time, the result of her creative trip was 25 works telling about the lives of people and the Turkmen spring, since her stay in our country coincided with this period.

Looking at the paintings of Joanna Galetska, you immediately guess that their author is a foreigner in love with our country. She has a special perception of local color. Joanna Galetska does not work with paints, but with chalk - pastels. But Joanna's paintings look like paintings.

At the grand opening of the exhibition, Turkmen artists highly praised the work of the Polish artist. Art expert Azat Annaev recalled how he met the foreign guest on her first visit, in 2001:

- Having seen Turkmenistan, Joanna Galetska could not contain her admiration and exclaimed: “What a multi-colored country!” Her works about Turkmenistan show her love for our country. In addition, she works on the first impression, “not torturing” the drawing. This is where the pastel technique manifests itself, in which you cannot make mistakes or redo anything. Therefore, in her paintings, lightness is felt.

Lecturer in the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan Dilarom Yakubova in her own way evaluates the works of John Galetska, admiring how she immediately managed to imbue the beauty of the local places.

People's Artist of Turkmenistan Klychmurat Yarmammedov sees the success of the Polish artist in the fact that her works are not biased. She paints what she likes. And if the artist likes his own painting, then it will impress everyone.

– This time I was lucky to visit the Chuli place, Nohur, and  Turkmenbashi city, – Ioanna shared in an interview for our newspaper. – In Ashgabat, I visited the Teke Bazaar and the Eastern Bazaar, popularly called “tolkuchka”. On the way from Nohur, I met praying women. There I also saw a funny game of donkeys frolicking on the mountainside. I tried to capture everything that interested me. Of course, I have many more impressions than I conveyed in 25 paintings. Perhaps, I will continue the “Turkmen Spring” series, but for myself. I am very glad that the Turkmen people like my work.
