A concert of young guitarists dedicated to the memory of the outstanding musician and teacher Islam Babayev was held at the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kulieva. Welcoming the audience, TNC Senior Lecturer Murad Kurbanov highlighted Islam Babayev's invaluable contribution to the development of the national guitar school.
Today, the classical guitar has firmly entered the musical education system of Turkmenistan. All music schools in the country have appropriate classes where experienced mentors pass on their skills to young talents. Remembering the galaxy of famous Turkmen guitarists, it is impossible not to mention such virtuosos as Mikhail Charyev, Tirkesh Pyalvanov and Oraz Altyliev.
The concert brought together representatives of children's music schools in Ashgabat and other educational institutions in the country. The largest delegation of guitar students came from Mary Velayat. The program featured classical works and famous Turkmen folk melodies. The audience was particularly impressed by the performance of Yusuf Ismailov, a teacher of the Conservatory, a famous guitar virtuoso.
The versatility of the guitar as an instrument capable of realizing any musical work was brilliantly demonstrated by students of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kulieva, the Turkmen State Special Music School named after Danatar Ovezov and students of a special music boarding school under the TNCs.
A landmark event for the development of guitar education in the country was the release of modern classical guitar textbook. This manual was a valuable gift for students of children's music schools, because the authors of the textbook carefully processed Turkmen folk melodies for the classical guitar. This approach allows beginner musicians to comprehend the basics of guitar art, at the same time joining the national musical heritage.
One of the viewers of the concert expressed her love for guitar art by dedicating heartfelt lines to the instrument: "The sounds of the guitar are a joy to the heart, the sounds of the guitar are the torments of love, a song sung by the heart, a ballad so excites the strings of our soul."
