Strengthening regional cooperation in the diplomatic sphere

Today, the opening ceremony of a regional seminar for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian countries was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In the year marked by the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of the Fatherland, important events are held that testify to the consistent promotion of international initiatives of our country aimed at maintaining global peace and sustainable development, strengthening good-neighbourly relations. A clear confirmation of this is the current seminar, the main goal of which is to strengthen interaction between young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian countries, exchange of experience and knowledge, consolidation of diplomatic efforts to resolve pressing regional issues. Turkmenistan, being committed to the principles of constructive equal partnership, makes a significant contribution to ensuring stability and prosperity of the entire region.

The opening ceremony of the regional seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organisations accredited in our country, including the UN, delegations of Central Asian states, teachers and students of the national higher diplomatic school.

As noted in the speeches, Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to efforts to form a culture of peace and trusting dialogue in modern international relations, strengthening global security. This is evidenced by the fact that the initiatives put forward by our country in the field of ensuring global peace and progress, sustainable transport, energy, climate change, in the humanitarian sphere, were enshrined in 29 resolutions of the UN General Assembly.

It was also emphasised that over the past years, Turkmenistan's neutrality has proven itself to be an effective tool in the development of international relations. This is confirmed by the recognition of this legal status by three resolutions adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, as well as the high authority of the Fatherland in the world arena. Advocating the solution of emerging issues exclusively by political and diplomatic methods and means, our country is ready to share the positive experience of neutrality with other states in this area. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the priority vectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the international community.

Particular attention was paid to the consistent steps and international initiatives of Turkmenistan, designed to promote the strengthening of peace and security, the solution of problems related to sustainable development, humanitarian activities, climate issues, youth policy. It was emphasized that this seminar will serve as an effective tool for strengthening cooperation and creating a climate of trust among young specialists of neighbouring countries. It will also be a great contribution to the further development of mutual understanding as a key factor in modern diplomacy.

In this context, it was noted that the principles of peacekeeping in Turkmen diplomacy go back centuries and are reflected in the rich heritage and ancient traditions of our people. Currently, thanks to the efforts of Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, all conditions have been created for young domestic diplomats to constantly improve their professional qualifications and study advanced world practices. In this area, relations with foreign partners, including leading international training centers, are dynamically developing.

Participants in the opening ceremony of the seminar expressed confidence that this event, along with the improvement and enrichment of knowledge, will serve to strengthen peace, stability and prosperity in Central Asia and in the world.

The regional training seminar for young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian countries will end on the 16th of May. It will provide an opportunity to gain a broader understanding of the priority approaches promoted under the auspices of the United Nations in the areas of development, gender issues, human rights, economics, and other areas. It will also be an important contribution to strengthening regional and international efforts by activating constructive interaction between young diplomats from the region.
