Exhibition of Kerim Berdiyev’s works opens at the Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan

A solo exhibition of the university lecturer Kerim Berdiyev opened at the Gallery of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. The graphic artist, who has also mastered painting techniques, presented to the public his works created over the past three years. The exhibition is dedicated to a significant milestone – the artist’s 35th birthday.

Despite his youth, Kerim Berdiyev already teaches at the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. His students enthusiastically absorb the experience of their young mentor, taking their first steps in the world of art under his guidance. Kerim Berdiyev himself began his creative journey at the Bashim Nurali Children’s Art School. It is clear that he found his calling in childhood.

Kerim Berdiyev’s works are dominated by a love of nature and the surrounding world. His paintings often feature plein air studies that convey the beauty of Turkmen landscapes, as well as still lifes that impress with their compositional precision and attention to detail. In his graphic works, the artist skillfully creates portraits that reveal the character and individuality of his subjects.

Ogulmaral Charyyarova, second-year student of the Academy of Arts, prepared a catalog of the artist’s creative works to mark the mentor’s anniversary. The catalog also includes Kerim Berdiyev’s biography.

“This is my first serious work,” says Ogulmaral. “To make the catalog successful, we spent many hours talking with Kerim Berdiyev. I visited his creative studio, studied all his works and the style in which he paints. One of the most difficult tasks was to gather over a hundred drawings under one cover and design it so that future students would find it interesting and informative to get acquainted with the work of our teacher.”

The catalog, created as part of the anniversary, will be sent to the library of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, becoming a valuable source of knowledge for future generations of artists.
