A unique exhibition introducing the ancient culture of Chinese horse breeding and the art of white porcelain “Dehua” opened at the gallery of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan.

Welcoming the guests of the exhibition space, the organizers emphasized the significance of equestrian culture in strengthening the ties and friendship between China and Turkmenistan.

The opening ceremony continued with an exchange of valuable gifts. Representatives of the National Museum of China and the Chinese Equestrian Industry Association presented the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the State Association “Turkmen Atlary” with a collection of poetry “Magtymguly” in Chinese, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classic Turkmen literature figure, as well as exquisite white porcelain items.

A porcelain sculpture of an Akhal-Teke stallion, equipped in the national style, was presented in a solemn setting, reflecting the rich culture and traditions of the Turkmen people. According to representatives of the Chinese side, this exhibit was created by a master inspired by numerous photographs of the “paradise” horses, famous worldwide for their grace and endurance. One of these porcelain Akhal-Tekes will be given as a gift.

The two thematic exhibitions are united by common aesthetic preferences and the emotional connection of the Chinese and Turkmen peoples to horses and the color white.

More than 150 ancient Chinese horse saddles were specially brought to Ashgabat for the exhibition. These unique exhibits are constructions with wooden frames covered with felt or leather, with leather straps, and sometimes with bows and back bows decorated with leather, bone, or horn.

In addition to equestrian attributes, the gallery halls feature works in photography, calligraphy and painting, sculpture, fur paintings, embroidered items, and paper crafts on the theme of horses. All this demonstrates the diverse integration and profound meaning of China’s equestrian culture.

The “Dehua” white porcelain exhibition brought together more than 40 highly artistic modern porcelain items with ornaments embodying ancient motifs and new trends. It showcases the rich cultural content and global aesthetics of white porcelain art. The exhibition also features porcelain images related to swift horses.

The event is organized through the cooperation of several departments of the People’s Republic of China, the Embassies of both countries, as well as the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the International Academy of Horse Breeding, the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, and several other organizations.

The exhibition will last until the end of the month. Admission is free.
