Works by Central Asian artists presented at the “Nadar” Gallery in Ashgabat

The “Nadar” Gallery of the French Institute at the Embassy of France in Turkmenistan is hosting an exclusive exhibition of creative works by artists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The project "Central Asian Modern Art Through a Private Collector's Eye" offers a special view of contemporary art of Central Asia through the prism of a personal collection formed without any strict rules, solely according to the preferences and interests of the collector. Each painting is a personal story of the artist, inviting visitors to a frank dialogue and deep perception.

According to the organizers, the works presented at the exhibition cover the period from the 1940s to the present day, demonstrating an amazing variety of styles from different generations. However, this is not a retrospective of Central Asian art, but an attempt to show the vivid facets of the work of some of the region's outstanding artists. Today, these works can only be seen at the exhibition in Ashgabat.

There are no strict museum exhibits here. These are works that had a significant impact on the formation and development of art in Central Asia. All the artists represented are united by a common desire to find a new language of self-expression, moving both within the framework of tradition and contrary to it.

Among the participants of the exhibition are recognized masters such as Tatiana Glebova, Zelimkhan Saidzhanov and Andrey Krikis, whose works have formed entire art schools in Central Asia.

Along with them, modern voices are represented – Alexander Barkovsky, Anna Ivanova, Bakhtiyar Serkekeev and Zlata Beord, who demonstrate courage and innovation in a combination of different contexts.

As Philippe Merlin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan, noted at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, masterpieces of Turkmen art will soon be presented. And the current exhibition is an important addition to the upcoming event. The opening of this exhibition was preceded by other cultural events, including the exhibition "Digital generations" and modern dance performance "Rituals".

The exhibition of Central Asian artists will last until September, admission is free for everyone.
