The harvest of melons is actively underway in the Dashoguz velayat

Farmers of the Shabat etrap of the Dashoguz velayat are completing the harvesting of melons at a high pace. Here they were planted on 240 hectares this year. To date, 4 thousand 796 tons of crops have been collected, which practically means the successful completion of the planned task.

A rich harvest of melons has also been grown in other etraps of the velayat. The largest producers in the northern region of the country are the Akdepe etrap and the Ruhubelent etrap, where melons occupy 800 hectares each. In total, more than 32 thousand tons of products are planned to be collected from the fields of these two etraps, and the total task for the procurement of melons in the Dashoguz velayat is about 75 thousand tons.

The northern region of Turkmenistan has always been famous for its agricultural traditions, and the production of melons is an important component of its agricultural sector. Watermelons, melons, pumpkins and other crops grown here have excellent taste qualities. Melons are well suited for cultivation in the weather and climate conditions of the region, as most of them are highly drought-resistant and undemanding to the soil. These crops, depending on the variety and conditions, have a relatively short growing season, are resistant to transportation, and have a long shelf life. By the way, domestic breeders are consistently working on developing varieties with an even shorter growing season. And, of course, the main advantages of melons are excellent taste qualities and high vitamin content.
