Road safety activities are underway

With the arrival of September, Turkmenistan has launched the annual month-long campaign “Road Safety – The Peace of Our Life.” The initiative, started in 2013 on the proposal of the Hero Arkadag, is successfully carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which highlights its great significance.

These days, a wide range of activities is organized aimed at comprehensive explanation of traffic rules. Special lessons are held in schools, colleges, and kindergartens, while thematic conferences and seminars are arranged in ministries and agencies to increase the literacy of drivers and pedestrians. Particular attention is paid to the younger generation, instilling the importance of following the rules from an early age.

Extensive work on ensuring safety is also carried out in practice. Patrol services regularly monitor the roads across the country, including on bicycles, which allows for prompt response to the traffic situation. Employees of the police road supervision service exercise especially strict control of rule compliance near schools and other educational institutions.

Active construction and modernization of road infrastructure, meeting the highest global standards, are underway in the white-marble capital. All conditions have been created here for safety and convenience. Modern wide roads, bridges, as well as above-ground and underground crossings effectively separate flows of vehicles and pedestrians, which helps significantly reduce the risk of accidents and avoid traffic jams. Interchanges have been constructed at complex intersections to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.

Special attention is deserved by the transport system of the city of Arkadag, where advanced technological solutions have been implemented. City streets are equipped with modern lighting systems, video surveillance, and traffic management. The Intelligent Transport System (ITS) regulates traffic flows, and dedicated lanes for public transport help save time and relieve roads.

The month-long road safety campaign will continue until September 30. However, it is important to remember that road safety is not only the responsibility of the relevant services but also the personal responsibility of every participant in road traffic.
