On the 3rd of September, mass sowing of winter wheat began in Turkmenistan. With the blessing of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, an important agricultural campaign was launched simultaneously in all velayats.

As the head of state noted at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held digitally on the 29th of August, the radical changes being implemented in the agricultural sector in the country are aimed at increasing the volume of high-quality agricultural products and ensuring food abundance.

The President of Turkmenistan noted that an important and responsible time has come for grain farmers - sowing wheat, emphasising the need for its organised implementation within agrotechnical deadlines.

Having given his blessing to begin sowing in all velayats on the 3rd of September, the head of state wished the hard-working grain growers and rural workers great success in their work.

According to a good folk tradition, having offered a prayer to the Almighty for a generous and full harvest of ak bugday, the venerable elders began sowing. Having thrown the first seeds of winter wheat into the well-prepared soil with the words «Her bir dänäň müň bolsun!», the aksakals and their young assistants passed the symbolic baton of sowing to the machine operators.

Following the instructions of the head of the Turkmen state, farmers prepared for the important campaign with special care, plowing and fertilising the agricultural lands intended for sowing wheat in a timely manner.

At the same time, high-quality seeds were prepared in advance, as well as agricultural machinery that will be used in the current sowing. The dynamic development of agriculture is a priority area of the policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, aimed at strengthening the economic power of the Fatherland and improving the well-being of the people. Large-scale reforms are being successfully implemented in this area, designed to help solve problems in the field of import substitution and increase the export potential of the agro-industrial complex by increasing the volume of production of various agricultural products.

Within the framework of the agrarian reform, specific measures are being taken to digitalise the industry, introduce the latest technologies and innovations. Significant investments are being made to build modern agro-processing enterprises, elevators and milling complexes with workshops for the procurement of selected seed wheat, and plants for the production of mineral fertilisers.

The successful implementation of the tasks for the development of the regions of the Fatherland outlined in the «Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022-2028 and the National Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the transformation of the social and living conditions of the population of villages, towns, etrap cities and etrap centres for the period up to 2028 contributes to improving the quality of life of the rural population».

On the occasion of the start of wheat sowing, seminars were held in all regions of the country with the participation of representatives of velayat and etrap hakimliks, heads of dayhan associations, agronomists, machine operators, tenant farmers, and respected elders.

The seminars, in particular, discussed issues of organised sowing campaign, use of the latest agricultural techniques and best practices in grain cultivation. This will help farmers to sow strategically important agricultural crops on time and with high quality.

An exhibition of agricultural products produced in the country and modern special equipment was also organised. On the occasion of the start of sowing, song and music performances by artists and creative groups were held everywhere.
