The Balkan velayat theatre was awarded at the III International theatre festival TURKSOY

The 3rd International theatre festival TURKSOY, which brought together creative groups from nine countries, including Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, concluded in Aktau.

The Regional musical and drama theatre named after N. Zhanturin presented performances reflecting the spirit of historical memory and traditions of the Turkic peoples, which received high praise from the jury.

The State drama theatre named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy of the Balkan velayat was awarded an award in the category «For the popularisation of national traditions» for the play «Baýram han türkmen». This award was a significant gift for the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, which was celebrated recently, and will take pride of place in the theatre’s museum.

Agamyrat Baltayev, a representative of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and a member of the jury of the international festival, was awarded the TURKSOY certificate of Honour.

The cultural event included master classes and seminars that provided a deeper insight into the theatrical achievements of the Turkic peoples and an opportunity for theatre professionals and directors to exchange experiences. Particular attention was paid to exhibitions of theatrical costumes, decorative and applied arts, and national musical instruments.

In addition, artists and cultural figures visited the sights of Aktau, located on Kazakhstan's Caspian sea coast. The festival concluded with a festive concert.

TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Rayev noted that TURKSOY international festivals continue to develop and are presented to audiences in a new format.

The 3rd International Theatre Festival, held in the 2025 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, aimed to strengthen fraternal ties between Turkic peoples through the language of theatre, a universal means of communication. The festival provided audiences with a wealth of vibrant experiences from performances and encounters with the artists.
