Today, the dayhan associations of the Magtymguly etrap in the Balkan velayat are effectively and thoughtfully cultivating various varieties of fruit trees and increasing the volume of environmentally friendly, high-quality produce. Collaboration with specialists from the Scientific and Production Testing Centre of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. Nyyazov, part of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, greatly assists the dayhans in cultivating fruit plants.

Particularly attractive to dayhan associations are pomegranate seedlings bearing red pomegranate fruit, which are in high demand. The most famous of these seedlings is the variety known collectively as «Sumbar Pomegranate». It is also known that certain species of wild pomegranate trees growing in mountain gorges and along the banks of the Sumbar River in Magtymguly Etrap are listed in the Red Data Book of Turkmenistan. Dayhan associations in Magtymguly etrap widely cultivate these economically viable varieties of this fruit of paradise.

Pomegranate varieties grown, including those on private plots, differ from each other in the thickness of the peel, the hardness and softness of the seeds, the acidity, sweetness, and flavour of the fruit, as well as its resistance to heat, cold, and various diseases.

The most effective pomegranate seedling cultivation in the Sumbar valley is carried out by tenants of the Dayhan Association named after Saparmyrat Nyyazov. The pomegranates they grow in compliance with agricultural regulations are among the most sought-after at markets and retail outlets across the country. Currently, approximately three hundred tenants are cultivating pomegranate trees on 350 hectares of agricultural land assigned to the dayhan association. The current rate of ripe fruit harvesting guarantees that this dayhan association will exceed its pomegranate harvest plan.

The medicinal properties of the pomegranate tree and its fruit, considered a delicacy, have been well-known since ancient times. These properties are extensively described in the multi-volume scientific encyclopaedia «Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan» by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag.

Currently, the etrap's tenants are rapidly harvesting pomegranates, striving to celebrate the glorious anniversary of our beloved Fatherland's Neutrality with extraordinary effort. They intend to exceed their planned targets for the celebration.
