Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan: New Horizons for Cooperation

A meeting of analysts from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan was held at the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan. This time, their Uzbek colleagues, led by Javlon Abdujalolovich Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute of Central Asia, joined specialists from the Centre for Strategic Studies of the MFA of Turkmenistan to discuss pressing regional issues.

Leading specialists from the Tashkent International Institute of Central Asia and analysts from various institutions, corporations, and agencies were invited to participate in the roundtable discussion organised at the diplomatic university of Turkmenistan.

Although the stated meeting topics covered a broad range of issues and questions, the discussions were substantive and quite concrete. These issues touched on a broad range of economic cooperation not only between the two countries but also across the entire Central Asian region.

The analysts also focused on such pressing issues as transport and logistics projects, freight transportation issues, rational use of water resources, and strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties.

Rector of the IIR of the MFA of Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat Ravshanbek Alimov actively participated in the meeting and discussions at the Institute of Foreign Affairs.
