In early October 2025, an event dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan was held in Vienna. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria with the support of the Turkmen-Austrian Society. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan. 

Among the hundreds of participants were representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the Republic of Austria, heads of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations and the private sector, as well as students and the mass media.

In his speech, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Austria Hemra Amannazarov emphasized the firm commitment of Turkmenistan to the principles of neutrality, peace and cooperation. He spoke in detail about the significance of Turkmenistan’s priority positions, as stated at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The active cooperation between Turkmenistan and Austria in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields was also noted.

In this regard, the significance of the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly was emphasized.

The Head of Protocol at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Maximilian Henning and Head of the Turkmen-Austrian Society Ms. Neda Berger spoke at the event. They highly appraised the bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Austria. The role of neutrality policy in strengthening peace and stability on the planet was noted.

The events were attended by the representatives of the Government of Hungary, diplomats, workers of art, science and culture, as well as students, public and the mass media.

The key event was a conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan, during which participants noted Turkmenistan’s achievements as a permanently neutral state.

The successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality, which promotes peace, dialogue and sustainable development both within the region and beyond, was highlighted.

It was reaffirmed at conference that Turkmenistan’s neutrality, recognized and confirmed by three United Nations Resolutions, remains the keystone of its foreign policy and an example of constructive diplomacy.

During the events, an exhibition of books of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, entitled “Magtymguly – Sage of the World” and “Anau – Culture from the Depths of Millennia” was held.

In addition, a musical concert was held with the participation of artists from Turkmenistan. The programme featured masterpieces by Turkmen composers, as well as melodies performed on the dutar and other national folk instruments.

There was also an exhibition of Turkmen decorative and applied arts, during which visitors were introduced to traditional crafts, carpets, embroidery and decorative items made by Turkmen masters.
