These days, specialists from the Dashoguz velayat forestry department are carrying out the annual collection of thuja seeds. As of today, more than 80 kilograms of seeds have already been gathered, with a total of 150 kilograms planned to be collected during the autumn campaign. In the course of this seasonal campaign, the forestry workers will also harvest seeds of fruit crops, saxaul, kandym, and others. All of these will serve as reproductive material for the further cultivation of tree and shrub species in the department's nurseries, which cover several dozen hectares. 

The forestry team of the velayat is actively engaged in afforestation, growing various species of trees and flowers for planting in public areas. The department services hundreds of thousands of hectares in the region.

Thanks to the diverse forestry measures undertaken by the team to preserve and protect forest resources, the plant life of the velayat is gradually being enriched with many species of valuable deciduous and coniferous plants, contributing to the ongoing improvement of the ecological situation.

Taking into account the local weather and climate conditions, efforts are made to plant trees and shrubs that, along with high decorative value, are also resistant to frost, drought, and disease, and are capable of purifying the air from pollution. In recent years, the number of coniferous evergreen perennials—particularly thuja—has significantly increased in the cultivated areas of the region.
