Turkmen sportsman Muhammetoraz Gulov won a silver medal at the «Youth karate league 1» international world series tournament, which concluded in the Italian resort town of Jesolo on the Adriatic coast in the province of Venice.
The competition, held under the auspices of the World karate federation (WKF), involved 3,378 athletes from 83 countries competing for medals in age categories from 12 to 20 years.
According to the karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan, our team was represented at the tournament by 17 sportsmen.
Muhammetoraz Gulov won a silver medal in kumite among boys under 14 years old in the 40 kg weight category. In the final match, our compatriot lost to Armenian karateka Norik Makaryan with a score of 1:4 and rose to second place on the podium.
Muhammetoraz Gulov is a 7th-grader at secondary school № 1 in Bayramaly city, Mary velayat, and practices karate under the guidance of coach Serdar Muhammetnazarov.
This is not the first time that sportsmen from the Turkmenistan karatedo Federation have achieved success at prestigious tournaments of the «Youth karate league 1» world series. Last year, Alimuhammet Kakalyyev, a student from Ashgabat secondary school № 61, twice took third place in the 55 kg weight category among athletes under 14 years old at the «Youth karate league 1» in Fujairah (United Arab Emirates) and La Coruña (Spain), and Gurbannazar Amandurdyyev, a student from secondary school № 16 in the Akbugday etrap of the Ahal velayat, won a bronze medal in the 52 kg weight category among sportsmen over 14 years old at the competition in Fujairah (UAE).
Karate is included in the program of the IV Summer Youth games, which will be held in the capital of Senegal from the 31st of October to 13th of November, 2026 and will be the first Olympics in Africa.
