The Oguzkhan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan has entered the Gold Category of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, as published for the 2025 results.

Significantly improving its position compared to last year, the Turkmen university scored a record 7,675 points out of a possible 10,000, securing 306th place in the prestigious global ranking among the world's leading universities.

In addition, Oguzkhan University became the leader among the 12 universities from Turkmenistan that appeared in the UI GreenMetric World Ranking this year.

A total of 1,745 universities from 105 countries participated in the 2025 ranking.

International experts from the ranking agency assess universities and award points based on six main criteria: Infrastructure and Buildings; Energy and Climate Change Action; Waste Management; Water Resource Management; Environmentally Friendly Transportation; Education and Research.

Higher education institutions are ranked according to the total number of points they score and are placed into three categories: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The highest Gold level is achieved by universities that score over 7,500 points.

The Gold category in the UI GreenMetric ranking represents a high level of recognition for universities that demonstrate outstanding efforts in sustainable development, environmentally friendly infrastructure, and education.

Oguzkhan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, which has shown excellent results in each of the six ranking areas, confidently entered the “Gold Category.”

The university has participated in this ranking for the fourth consecutive year, demonstrating sustainable development and growth in environmental performance. In 2022, the university ranked 637th, in 2023 it was 432nd, in 2024 it moved up to 328th, and in 2025 it achieved 306th place.

The achievement of the university is a vivid testament to the effectiveness of the multifaceted efforts in Turkmenistan to elevate the national education system to global standards and integrate Turkmen universities among the leading higher education institutions in the world.

This accomplishment also underscores the high importance placed by the state on environmental issues, environmental protection, and the development of science and education in this field. Turkmenistan strives to implement the set goals and consistently fulfills its commitments, being a participant in a range of international agreements and conventions in the field of environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources, aimed at social, economic, and environmental global sustainable development.
