China has called for joining forces with Turkmenistan to change the modern world for the better

Special Envoy of the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jingping, Vice Chairman of the Standing committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Peng Qinghua, who is on a visit to Ashgabat, held a meeting with representatives of public organisations of Turkmenistan. In his speech, the vice-speaker of the Chinese Parliament praised the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan and confirmed readiness of China to deepen the strategic partnership.

Peng Qinghua noted that his first visit to Turkmenistan left a deep impression. The parliamentarian highlighted the rapid economic development of the country, stable society, happy people, and clean, beautiful Ashgabat, and expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, warmth, and endless hospitality.

As Peng Qinghua continued, relations between China and Turkmenistan have deep roots, as evidenced by Chinese coins and porcelain found in the ancient city of Merv, and modern comprehensive cooperation has steadily strengthened since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 30 years ago.

«To date, more than 100 strategically targeted joint documents have been signed between the countries. Thanks to the leadership of President Xi Jinping, National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chinese-Turkmen relations have maintained a favourable development trend. China and Turkmenistan are trusting partners whose bilateral cooperation is based on mutual respect», – said the guest from China.


The speaker noted that China is the largest exporter of Turkmen gas. Foreign economic ties between the countries are becoming ever closer. Bilateral trade volumes are steadily growing, and the structure of cooperation is becoming increasingly robust, balanced, and robust. Turkmenistan maintains its status as largest partner of China, which brings significant benefits to the peoples of both countries, Peng Qinghua added.

The vice-speaker of the PRC Parliament shared that he attended the International forum on peace and trust, where he praised call for peace through trust of Turkmenistan. He reminded the ancient Chinese saying: «He who paves the way with sincerity will be trusted». In this context, Peng Tsinghua also noted the widespread popularity in China of a collection of works by the Turkmen philosopher and poet, Magtymguly Pyragy.

Supporting initiative of Turkmenistan to have the UN General Assembly proclaim 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust, Peng Qinghua emphasised the joint efforts of countries to promote universal human values.

«China and Turkmenistan should jointly develop a correct historical perspective, promote universal values of peace, and the ideals of justice, democracy, and freedom. Strengthen the authority of the UN, transforming our planet into a peaceful, friendly, and harmonious family. China is ready to work with Turkmenistan to make every effort to change the modern world for the better», – stated Peng Qinghua.
