In honour of defenders of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on the 27th of January, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Turkmen artists is on display in the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. Traditionally, on this occasion, the museum welcomed military personnel and cadets who have chosen the challenging and highly responsible profession of defending the Motherland.

The chief curator of the museum, Mahri Atdayeva, introduced guests to the exhibits on display. Most of the films tell the story of the responsible work of border guards: «Silence» by Atabally Kichikulov, «Border service» and «At the halt» by Gennadiy Babikov, « Training of paratroopers» by Nury Hojamuhammedov, «Peaceful country» by Durdy Bayramov, and others. The exhibition also includes works created on the theme of the heroic contribution of Turkmen military personnel to the Victory over fascism, as well as portraits of military personnel with orders and medals.

Representatives of the Youth organisation of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, the civil defence faculty of the Turkmen institute of architecture-construction, and the Border institute of Turkmenistan participated in the grand opening of exhibition. Speakers noted the important tasks assigned to military personnel by the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov at an expanded meeting of the State security council of Turkmenistan, including mastering digital systems and modern technologies to protect the Fatherland.

At the end of the official part, media representatives interviewed the museum guests.

– I am – a 1st year cadet at the Border institute of Turkmenistan, Feruzbek Parhatov introduced himself in an interview with readers of the online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden Age». – Since childhood I dreamed of becoming a military man. I am attracted to everything about this profession: strict discipline, military uniform and the fulfilment of a high moral duty – to be a defender of the Fatherland. To become a good border guard officer, you need physical and political training. I will make every effort to master the necessary skills for my future profession during my studies.

Jumageldi Shalykov − classmate of Feruzbek. He chose the profession of border guard officer after serving in the army, that is, after he had experienced firsthand the not always easy life in the army. But difficulties do not frighten Jumageldi; the main thing is that his profession benefits the people of our country. «The world is changing rapidly, − says the cadet. − To counter a cunning enemy, we must stay ahead of them. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is encouraging military personnel to master digital skills. And who, if not the students of military universities, will cope so well with the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country».

The speech of the head of Turkmenistan at the expanded meeting of the State security council was received with enthusiasm by all representatives of the military structures. Ovezgeldi Atageldiyev, assistant judge of the Bagtyyarlyk etrap Court in Ashgabat, continued the topic of digitalisation, noting that the revised Civil code of Turkmenistan, which is available in electronic format, entered into force on the 1st of January, 2026.

Taking the opportunity, Mahri Atdayeva gave the servicemen and cadets a short tour of other halls of the museum. The display of exhibits left a lasting impression on the defenders of the Fatherland.
