A major sporting event—the Youth Chess Championship of Turkmenistan—has concluded in Ashgabat. The final stage of the competition featured rapid and blitz tournaments, in which a total of 72 medals were awarded. Earlier, the winners in the classical format had been determined.
Special recognition was given to female athletes who demonstrated absolute dominance across all three disciplines—classical, rapid, and blitz chess:
Jahan Rejepova from Lebap velayat in the under-16 category and Nurana Soyunova from the “Kusht Alemi” Chess Academy in the under-14 category.

High-level performance was also confirmed by Ali Ahmedov, a representative of the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat, who won gold medals in classical chess and rapid chess.
Among the tournament’s standout achievements were the results of Jennet Yalkanova from Mary velayat, who added two gold medals to her team’s tally, and Myakhri Agamyradova from Lebap, who claimed three silver medals at the championship.

Based on the results across all disciplines, the team from Lebap velayat secured first place in the overall team standings. Second place in terms of the total number of medals went to the representatives of Mary velayat. Third place was shared by the “Kusht Alemi” Academy and the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat.

The successful organization of the championship demonstrated the growing potential of the national chess school. The competition results confirm the effectiveness of the state policy being implemented in the country to develop youth sports and to improve the systematic training of athletes in the regions of Turkmenistan.
