On the 26th of March, a large-scale Turkmenistan-European Union business forum, «New horizons for strengthening connectivity, attracting investment, and sustainable development», was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The event, organised by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the EU Delegation and the International trade centre (ITC), marked an important step in the implementation of the «Global Gateway» strategy of EU.

The forum brought together more than 200 delegates, including high-ranking politicians, heads of leading enterprises, and experts from international financial institutions. The main goal of the meeting was to find new vectors of interaction in the areas of trade and sustainable economic development.

Participants paid special attention to issues of creating a favourable investment climate and deepening integration processes between the region and the European market.

One of the key moments of the forum was the speech by Minister of finance and economy of Turkmenistan, Mammetguly Astanagulov, who emphasised the strategic nature of relations with European partners.

«The cooperation of Turkmenistan with the European Union is developing actively and constructively. We support the position of EU on expanding mutually beneficial relations in trade, energy, transport, environmental, and humanitarian areas», − the minister noted.

As M. Astangulov added, Turkmenistan today maintains economic ties with almost all EU member countries. According to the State statistics committee, the effectiveness of this interaction is confirmed by specific indicators. Thus, foreign trade turnover for 2025 amounted to approximately 2.1 billion dollars, and the format of interaction covers the implementation of regional programs, country projects, and targeted financial agreements.

Summing up and outlining prospects, the head of the ministry confirmed his readiness for further detailed discussion of priority areas of cooperation. As emphasised, Turkmenistan aims to build long-term relations that take into account the economic interests of all participants in the dialogue and promote sustainable growth for all parties.
