Today, an equestrian marathon took place in the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat. This event, dedicated to the National Day of the Turkmen Horse, has added to the calendar of significant occasions in the year titled “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” The competition complemented the celebrations unfolding across the country on the eve of the holiday.


Horse races have always made an unforgettable impression on spectators. For centuries, the speed of the “heavenly” steeds and their harmonious interaction with riders, demonstrated during competitions, have been a captivating spectacle. It should be noted that marathon races occupy an important place in the national equestrian sport.


The pleasent spring weather and the picturesque landscapes of the Ak Bugday etrap lift the spirits of the riders. At present, the marathon—one of the key forms of testing in national horse breeding—is gaining increasing popularity, as evidenced by the impressive number of participants in this year’s race.
