Silkworm cocoon care continues at a rapid pace in the Balkan velayat

In the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan – homeland of purposeful winged horses», one of the priority tasks of the national economy is to increase the production of valuable raw materials – silkworm cocoons, as well as modern organisation of industrial processing of local raw materials. This important work places particular emphasis on advanced technologies and the promotion of productive labour in the sericulture industry.

Silkworm breeders in the western region of the country are now confidently achieving their goals. This year they plan to harvest and deliver 25 tons of cocoons to the state. To this end, 685 boxes of healthy silkworm silk, adapted to the natural conditions of the Balkan velayat and producing high-quality products, were distributed in a timely manner among experienced silkworm breeders based on relevant agreements.

Silkworm breeders who have signed contracts with the inter-etrap enterprise for the acceptance and drying of cocoons in the Magtymguly etrap are working effectively and are confident in the successful fulfilment of their obligations. Of the total volume of 25 tons planned for the velayat, 18 tons will be supplied by silkworm breeders in the Magtymguly etrap. Silkworm breeders in the Gyzylarbat etrap will also produce 6 tons, and cocoon producers in the Bereket etrap will produce 1 ton of valuable raw material.

These days, silkworm breeders are actively continuing to provide proper care for silkworm caterpillars. It should be noted that ensuring the proper level of temperature, humidity, lighting and air exchange in the rearing rooms gives positive results.

According to experienced specialists at the inter-etrap enterprise, silkworms brought from the People's Republic of China are successfully taking root in the velayat. This species is characterised by high productivity and resistance to diseases. In addition, the velayat has a sufficient supply of mulberry trees to provide adequate nutrition for silkworms. This will enable silk growers to achieve high production figures in the year marked by the celebration of the glorious 35th anniversary of the Fatherland's independence.
