A festive concert dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre. The event, organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, gathered a full audience who came to honor the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. Special guests of the celebration were the esteemed war veterans.

The evening’s program featured well-known wartime melodies performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the direction of maestro Resul Gylyjov.

The concert opened with the monumental composition “The Sacred War.” During the two-hour program, the audience heard such beloved songs as “Cranes,” “Dark Night,” “Smuglyanka,” “The Blue Scarf,” “The Soldier’s Song,” and many other compositions that have become timeless symbols of the heroic feat of the multinational victorious people.

A particularly touching atmosphere was created by the young participants — students of the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School named after A.S. Pushkin. During the intervals between musical performances, the children read authentic letters from frontline soldiers and moving poems about the war. The school’s children’s choir also took part in the performance, emphasizing the continuity of generations and the importance of preserving historical memory.

The final highlight of the celebration was the performance of the legendary songs “Katyusha” and “Victory Day.”

Turkmenistan’s contribution to the common Victory is invaluable. During the war years, 300,000 residents of the republic went to the front. For their courage and heroism, 130,000 soldiers were awarded orders and medals, 104 brave citizens of Turkmenistan received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and 15 of our compatriots became full holders of the Order of Glory.
