An exhibition of works by Turkmen artists dedicated to the Day of the Constitution and the State Flag of the country has been organized at the Exhibition Center of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. This national holiday, celebrated throughout every corner of our Motherland, unites the people of Turkmenistan into one friendly family. Turkmen artists actively participate in events organized on this occasion, presenting works that reflect the country’s achievements and the peaceful, happy lives of their fellow citizens.

At the center of the exhibition is the painting “Music of Happiness” by Merjen Kalliyeva. Merjen depicted a beautiful young woman who, inspired by the modern appearance of the white-marble Turkmen capital, plays a melody on the violin expressing pride in her country.

The architecture of the modern capital frequently appears in the works of painters, as this theme helps artists express their attitude toward the changes that have taken place in Turkmenistan during the years of independence. Shukur Rozyyev presented the painting “White City of Ashgabat.” Shemshat Berdiyeva depicted the Yyldyz Hotel (“Star”) Hotel at night, illuminated by decorative lights that emphasize the beauty of the building’s unusual design. Aziza Ovezmuradova presented iconic structures of the capital in the form of a collage-style design, surrounding them with blue waves forming an improvised frame.

Nevertheless, it was Chary Jafarov who stood out most at this exhibition. He presented a series of graphic works devoted to everyday life, including “Bride,” “Cheshme,” “Sultan,” and others. The painting “Earring” from this series made a particularly strong impression on visitors with its charm — a little fashion-conscious girl, while no one is home, is diligently trying to fasten an earring on her ear, though for some reason it simply will not clasp. The work combines humor with the artist’s ability to capture an engaging moment.

However, more than anything else, Chary Jafarov captivated viewers with his painting “Jalaleddin.” This medieval hero has become a symbol of courage and patriotism among the Turkmen people. In the painting, Jalaleddin appears before viewers with a small army of fearless warriors, with whom he intends to achieve yet another victory over the enemy hordes of Genghis Khan. Both Jalaleddin and his loyal companions are ready to lay down their lives for their Motherland rather than surrender to the enemy. The honor and bravery of Jalaleddin have preserved his memory forever.

Naturally, a painting featuring such a hero as Jalaleddin carries a powerful message of patriotism. His name, like a banner, proudly soars above the people of Turkmenistan, making the presence of this hero especially fitting at a celebration dedicated to the state symbols of the country. The exhibition of artists’ works at the Exhibition Center fills visitors with a spirit of unity and awakens a deep love for the Motherland.
