This year, rice farmers in the Dashoguz velayat intend to make a significant contribution to supplying Turkmenistan with high-quality products. As is well known, the etrap named after Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy remains the region’s primary producer of rice.

At the specialized daikhan association “S.A. Nyýazow,” 4,300 hectares have been allocated for this valuable crop this year, while the cultivated area of the “27 Oktyabr” daikhan association covers 3,000 hectares. A private enterprise, the “Ykbal açary” Economic Society, is also playing an increasingly active role in the production of this “pearl grain” in the region. This year, its rice paddies will occupy 800 hectares. The availability of sufficient specialized machinery and the extensive experience accumulated in rice cultivation enable the region’s farmers to harvest good yields year after year.

The main rice variety selected for sowing this year is “Nöküs-2,” which has been cultivated in the region for many years and is exceptionally well adapted to local climatic and weather conditions. This variety is also known for its high yields, resistance to diseases, and excellent taste qualities.

Rice cultivation is one of the key branches of agricultural production in the velayat. All the necessary conditions have been created to ensure its efficiency, including the construction of a high-tech rice processing facility. This enterprise allows harvested grain to be cleaned and processed into finished products in close proximity to the rice-growing areas.
