On June 11–12, 2026, the Capital of the People's Republic of China hosted the High-Level Forum on Global Human Rights Governance, bringing together heads of relevant departments, diplomats and prominent experts.

Director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan Yagmyr Nuryyev, attended the event organized by the State Council Information Office of the PRC in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

The two-day agenda of the forum focused on the theme “Joint Development and Common Human Rights: The 40th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development and a New Vision for Global Human Rights Governance”. The high-level meeting gathered over 400 delegates from more than 100 countries and major international institutions, including the UN.

During the specialized session “Green Development and Human Rights Protection”, the head of the Turkmen delegation delivered a report, providing the international community with a detailed overview of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's state policy.

The speech specifically emphasized that Turkmenistan, strictly adhering to its internationally recognized status of permanent neutrality, consistently implements its core foreign policy principle “Peace through Development”. This constructive strategy finds its practical embodiment in the country's environmental initiatives, where environmental protection and rational nature management serve as the foundation for ensuring sustainable development and protecting human rights.

The session participants expressed a shared view that commitment to such universal values as environmental modernization and the protection of human rights is an effective tool for strengthening global peace, stability, and the successful implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
