Turkmenistan is preparing for the official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia

Turkmenistan is preparing to host an official visit from the Malaysian government delegation headed by the Prime-minister of the country. The organisation of the upcoming visit was discussed at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held digitally.

Deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov presented a report on the progress of the preparatory work. The head of MFA emphasised that developing mutually beneficial ties with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Malaysia, is a key vector of foreign policy of the country.

Malaysia was among the first to recognise the independence of Turkmenistan, and today the bilateral legal framework includes 43 interstate, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental documents. The foundation for deepening this partnership was laid over many years by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The interstate dialogue received new impetus following the official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in December 2024.

As R. Meredov noted in his report, the latest high-level visit of Malaysian delegation is intended to consolidate the successes achieved and take bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level of development.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the fruitful nature of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation. To further strengthen interstate cooperation, the head of state instructed the deputy-prime and Minister of foreign affairs to ensure impeccable organisational preparation for the official visit of the Prime-minister of Malaysia.
