The state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan has concluded

On June 23, 2026, as part of his state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the cities of Fuzuli and Shusha.

At the Fuzuli International Airport, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Along the route, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Ilham Aliyev made a stop at a specially designated site, where they reviewed new construction projects in Fuzuli, including a mosque.

Taking this opportunity, President Ilham Aliyev, on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, once again expressed his gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the mosque being built in Fuzuli.Then, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan headed to Shusha.

On the way to the city, the heads of the two states made a stop at the Dashalty plain, where they viewed the local nature and took a joint commemorative photo.

Next, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Ilham Aliyev reviewed a new residential complex in the city of Shusha.

Then, the heads of the two states visited a mosque under construction in Shusha.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was presented with the designs and layouts of the new building: the appearance and interior of the religious structure feature decorative elements regulated by the canons of Islamic architecture and conveying the original features of local craftsmanship.

Next, the heads of the two states visited a special exhibition dedicated to the life, state activities, and immense merits of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

The exposition consisted of photographic materials, documents, and video films about the outstanding activities of Heydar Aliyev.

Then, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan viewed the busts of Khurshidbanu Natavan and Bulbul, as well as the monument to Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

Next, the heads of the two states visited the Shusha Fortress.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was briefed in detail on the history of this unique site.

The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan took a commemorative photo against the backdrop of the Shusha Fortress.

During the tour of the city's cultural landmarks, the heads of the two states also visited the Bulbul House-Museum.

The distinguished guests were guided through the house-museum's exposition by Polad Bulbuloghlu, who was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of Turkmenistan" for his special merits in strengthening relations of friendship, brotherhood, good-neighborliness, and cooperation between the Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples, and in consolidating the long-standing interstate cultural and humanitarian dialogue.

Then, the heads of the two states proceeded to the Jidir Duzu plain.

Here, as a token of high respect, the head of state was presented with a Karabakh horse named Mert.

Handing over the horse's passport to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President Ilham Aliyev highly praised the activities carried out in Turkmenistan at the state level to develop horse breeding.

Thanking him for the wonderful gift, the head of state noted that he accepted it as a sign of the inviolability of Turkmen-Azerbaijani friendship.

Then, the Presidents of the two countries took a commemorative photo.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Ilham Aliyev and the representatives of the Azerbaijani side for the highly organized tour, which revealed the rich historical and cultural heritage of the brotherly people.

Next, the heads of the two states arrived together at the Fuzuli International Airport.

At the airport, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Ilham Aliyev warmly bid farewell to each other, exchanging best wishes for the peoples of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

Upon completion of the cultural program of the state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the head of Turkmenistan departed for homeland.
