Turkmen Schoolchildren Won Medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Shanghai

Turkmen schoolchildren won one silver and three bronze medals at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026), held in the city of Shanghai, People's Republic of China, from 10 to 21 July.

Following the results of the Olympiad, Agaperman Berdimyradov, a 12th-grade student of Secondary School No. 40 in the Yoloten etrap of the Mary velayat, won a silver medal.

The bronze medals were awarded to Begench Akmyradov, a 12th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 49 in Ashgabat with advanced studies in mathematics and the English language, as well as to students of Specialized Secondary School No. 86 in Ashgabat with advanced studies in the English language, chemistry, and biology—Maliksha Meylismyradov, a 12th-grade student, and Hemra Gurbanov, a 10th-grade student.

This year, 685 talented schoolchildren from 119 countries took part in the prestigious international competition. Turkmenistan was worthily represented at the intellectual contest by a national team consisting of six secondary school students from across the country.

The achievements of Turkmen schoolchildren on the international stage have become further vivid evidence of the effectiveness of the state policy in the field of science and education, aimed at its continuous improvement, the introduction of advanced methodologies and innovations, and the creation of favorable conditions for obtaining high-quality education and the comprehensive development of young people.
