On 25 July 2026, the MFA of Turkmenistan hosted a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Ensuring the Fulfilment of Turkmenistan’s International Obligations in the Field of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, participants heard a report on the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission for the first half of 2026 and discussed priority tasks for the upcoming period.

The participants reviewed the implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law for 2024–2026, highlighting the importance of further strengthening interagency cooperation and ensuring the consistent implementation of the measures envisaged by the Plan.

Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the draft National Human Rights Action Plan of Turkmenistan for 2026–2030. It was noted that the document is aimed at further developing the national system for the protection of human rights and freedoms in accordance with international standards and Turkmenistan’s international commitments.

In his address, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan’s policy in the field of human rights clearly reflects the humanitarian nature of the State, its commitment to developing international cooperation, and its responsible fulfilment of international obligations.

Following the meeting, the participants identified the priority areas for the future work of the Interdepartmental Commission aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the implementation of Turkmenistan’s international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law.
